2008 Khorne Daemon Legion

I'm starting to paint up some Khorne daemon models ready for the forthcoming Codex Chaos Daemons for Warhammer 40,000. There are plenty of new models to consider and paint, as well as an opportunity to revisit some older miniatures and look at them afresh.

This is the almost-completed Khorne Daemon Prince Howlmaul Heartcutter (whose name came straight out of the Realm of Chaos name generator on the GW site), converted from the Warhammer character Be'Lakor:

The Be'Lakor model is probably one of my all-time favourite miniatures, but I wanted to alter it a little to give my Daemon Prince an identity of its own. I'm particularly pleased with the helmet - it has a bit of a Khorne samurai look I think! :D

The chainmail visor covers some of the damage done carving the Chaos star off the daemon's chest, and it had enough space for horns and an Icon of Khorne. And it looked different to any other daemon models I could think of having seen.

The as-yet unfinished wings membranes and axe head will probably be painted in the same colours as those of my Bloodthirster, Hackthrash Doomsblade:
